Garden State Parkway has 20-mile delay as holiday traffic picks up

Date:

Trying to leave the Jersey Shore after the long holiday weekend? It might take a while.

As of 1:10 p.m., delays and pockets of heavy traffic volume are causing slowdowns on the northbound Garden State Parkway, from just north of Exit 82A in Toms River to just south of Exit 102 in Tinton Falls, according to 511nj.org, which tracks traffic on the state’s major roadways.

That amounts to about a 20-mile back-up.

Traffic slows along the Garden State Parkway north of the Rt 138 overpass in Wall Township at about 1230pm Monday, May 27, 2024.
