Gary Trent has had an interesting career since leaving Duke. He was a second-round draft pick of the Sacramento Kings before being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, joining the team his father played for, where he carved out a solid career.
Trent built on that in his four years inToronto and recently he signed a one-year deal with Milwaukee which, really, is a big steal for the Bucks.
For Trent, just 25, that basically means he’s betting on himself. If he performs well, he can demand a bigger deal next season. If he doesn’t, well, the market will decide.
With the move to Milwaukee, he rejoins Portland teammate Damian Lillard.
No one doubts Trent’s offensive talents, but Milwaukee’s perimeter defense is weak. If he can step his game up there, he’ll have a critical role with the Bucks and can demand better compensation next year.
