ROCHESTER — Century notched its first win of this season and with it first-year coach Cedric Harrell also got his first win at Century, beating Winona 64-31 in Big Nine Conference action.

Ryaan Speer went off for 17 points and three 3-pointers. Haley McNamara had 13 points and Bianca Roman-Quirindongo had 12 points and three 3-pointers.

Century jumped on Winona early, grabbing a 34-15 halftime lead. The Panthers finished the game hitting 10 3-pointers.

The Panthers moved to 1-2.

Lakeville North 82, Mayo 56

LAKEVILLE — Once again, the Mayo girls basketball team took on one of the top teams in the state.

This time it was Lakeville North, which is ranked No. 10 in Class 4A. North bounced back from a 34-32 halftime deficit and beat Mayo 82-56.

The Spartans are now 3-3 overall.

“We played a great first half and the second half we made some mistakes, got into foul trouble and the score got out of hand,” Mayo coach Andy Bromeling said. “I’m proud of the girls as we continue to battle with the best teams in the state and we can only improve from it.”

Mayo was led by Madalynn McLaughlin, Amelia MIlls and Maggie Dyer, each with 14 points.
