Girona registered their first Champions League victory after a dominant display against Slovan Bratislava.

The Spanish side dominated the game and broke the deadlock when former Everton loanee Arnaut Danjuma’s cross into the box saw Miguel Gutierrez beat goalkeeper Dominik Takac at the near post with a crisp finish.

Juanpe curled a right-footed free-kick into the top corner to double the hosts’ lead with 17 minutes remaining.

Girona were awarded a penalty in the 88th minute when Artur Gajdos was ajudged to have handballed in his own box.

However, captain Cristhian Stuani saw his penalty effort superbly saved by Takac.
