“Going to give my best” – Barcelona midfielder makes strong promise upon comeback

Frenkie de Jong marked his return to the pitch during Barcelona’s dominant 5-0 victory over Young Boys in the Champions League.

The Dutch midfielder, sidelined for months due to injury, made his comeback in the second half. His appearance was met with a warm reception from the fans, who applauded his return after 163 days away from action.

After the match, De Jong expressed his happiness at being back on the field. He acknowledged how grateful he was for the support from the fans, who clearly appreciated his effort and presence.

“I’m very happy to be back on the pitch and playing football. I thank the fans for the welcome, I didn’t expect it, and I’m happy with the way people treat me,” said the midfielder as quoted by SPORT.

Speaking on the team’s form

De Jong also commented on the team’s positive momentum, highlighting how the squad has maintained high energy and fluidity since the start of the season.

Barcelona’s form has been impressive, and De Jong knows how important it is to continue building on this foundation. He remains focused on improving and helping the team sustain their excellent run.

“We’ve been in a good moment since the start, with a lot of energy and dynamism. We have to continue like this, improving,” he said.

However, De Jong did not shy away from admitting how difficult his recovery journey was. Being sidelined for such a long period was a tough challenge for him, and watching the team perform well without being able to contribute made it even harder.

“I see the team doing very well since the beginning of the season. I’m going to give my all to play. When you’re injured you always have a bad time, yes, it’s been long and hard and at times I’ve had a bad time.”

Regarding his place in the starting lineup, De Jong took a humble approach. He recognised that the final decision is up to the manager, and he is committed to giving his all in training and on the pitch.

“It depends on the manager. He is the one who chooses the players who play and I am going to give my best and play good football,” noted the midfielder.

De Jong’s return is a positive sign for Barcelona as they continue their campaign in both domestic and European competitions. With his determination and the team’s strong form, Barcelona will be hoping to achieve great things this season.
