Harrison Butker to return for Chiefs on Sunday, Matthew Wright will be waived

Date:

The Chiefs will get their kicker back on Sunday against the Browns.

Harrison Butker will be activated from injured reserve today so that he can play tomorrow, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

That means Matthew Wright, who kicked four field goals including the game-winning kick as time expired for the Chiefs last week, will go on waivers. Wright was named AFC special teams player of the week this week and may get claimed by some team that views him as a kicking upgrade.

But the Chiefs were always going to turn back to Butker once he got healthy, and now he is. Butker is one of the best kickers in NFL history, and the Chiefs are getting him back at the right time.
