Heralds place seventh in D-III boys golf sectional tournament

Saint John fired a team total of 340 during the Division III boys golf sectional tournament on Wednesday at Riverview Golf Course in Newton Falls.

The score placed seventh in the team standings.

The top three teams and three individuals not on a qualifying team advanced to the district tournament.

Jack Varckette and Dyln Newsome led the Heralds with an 80 each.

Varckette carded sides of 40-40, while Newsome checked in at 39-41.

Will Anderson fired a 42-47-89, followed by Ezra Campbell with a 45-46-91 and Anthony Severino 49-48-97.

Warren John F. Kennedy won the sectional with a 290, followed by Badger at 314 and Jackson-Milton with a 319.

Brookfield junior Braydon Demaria, with a 37-36-73; Bristol senior Diesel Williams, 41-36-77 and Newton Falls senior Cameron Huff, 41-36-77, were the individual district qualifers.
