How much will it snow in Knoxville? Parts of East Tennessee will see 1-3 inches of snow

A small snow system is moving through East Tennessee.

Snow showers are expected to begin on Dec. 20 and continue into Dec. 21 across much of East Tennessee. The National Weather Services says the storm will result in 1-3 inches of snow accumulation.

However, it’s unlikely that the snowy scenery will hang around until Christmas.

Will it snow in Knoxville?

There is a 30% chance of snow on Friday and into Friday night. However, the snow is not expected to accumulate.

It is unlikely that it will snow on Saturday in Knoxville, according to the National Weather Service.

How much snow will fall in East Tennessee?

Snow is expected in East Tennessee. Rain and snow showers are expected Friday afternoon with snow showers likely that night, according to the National Weather Service. There will be light snow accumulations and gusty winds in the mountains.

Could East Tennessee have a white Christmas?

It’s unlikely that East Tennessee will experience a white Christmas this year. Instead, the National Weather Service predicts mild temperatures and the possibility of rain.

Even for more northern cities like Johnson City, Christmas will be a warm one this year with highs in the 50s.

When was the last White Christmas in Knoxville?

The last time Knoxville had a white Christmas was only four years ago, in 2020. On Christmas day, Knoxvillians woke up to see a few inches of snow coating the ground.

The area has had eight white Christmases within the last 113 years, according to National Weather Service records.
