‘How Things Evolve’ – Expert Gives Key Update on PSG Star Amid Barcelona, Real Madrid Links

Date:

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz is making waves with the Spanish national team. As a result, the UEFA Euro 2024 winner is reportedly drawing interest from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

After making waves at Euro 2024, Ruiz continued his impressive form during the recent UEFA Nations League matches. He was the standout in Spain’s clash against Switzerland on Sunday night at Stade de Genève, scoring twice—once in the 13th minute and again in the 77th—to lead Spain to victory.

Despite being a key figure for Spain and under contract until 2027, the 28-year-old has yet to lock down a regular starting spot at PSG. This has sparked speculation that Barcelona and Real Madrid could show interest, possibly offering him a bigger role than he’s got at PSG.

La Liga and Serie A insider Matteo Moretto recently shared updates on Ruiz potentially being tempted to return to Spain.

“Earlier this week, Sport linked Real Madrid to Fabian Ruiz, and Barcelona’s name has been mentioned by others too,” Moretto stated in his latest Daily Briefing column. “Fabian was signed by Carlo and Davide Ancelotti at Napoli, so they clearly appreciate his qualities, as was reported this week too.

“Paris Saint-Germain Sporting Director Luis Campos is in love with Fabian, and the club at any rate want to hang onto him. We’ll see how things evolve this season, but PSG are delighted with him. He never complains, when he goes onto the pitch, he plays very well, and it’s true that Fabian could play as a starter for most big teams in Europe.

“Years ago, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid were linked with him, but it never turned into a negotiation. Last year, Inter had him on their agenda too, but it didn’t progress. Part of the issue is that when you go to PSG, your salary is likely to be very high, and that creates problems when you try to leave. What I know is that PSG are completely happy with him.”

This week, Diario Sport reported that Barcelona are considering signing Ruiz and might include Frenkie De Jong in a potential deal with PSG. It’ll be fascinating to see how this situation unfolds when the January transfer window opens in a few months.
