COLUMBUS, OH — The Michigan State Spartans had some fun in their non-conference schedule, but they are ready to get back into the Big Ten portion of their schedule, as they visit the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Spartans are rolling as the second half of the season starts to ramp up. Since losing to Memphis in the Maul Invitational, Tom Izzo’s squad has shown strength and grit over the last month and changed. Following a rather hard-fought win against Western Michigan this past Monday, Michigan State has won six straight games and is continuing to bolster their stock as favorites to win the Big Ten.
Jade Akins continues to be the big gun for MSU, the only player averaging double-digits in points so far. Yet, players like Tre Holloman, Jase Richardson and Jaxon Kohler have also been key contributors during this winning streak.
Ohio State has been plagued by inconsistency this year. While they have notable wins Texas and No. 4 Kentucky, they have stumbled against the likes of Maryland and Pittsburgh. The Buckeyes do have some momentum since losing to No. 2 Auburn over two weeks ago, winning three straight games, including a 20-point win over Indiana State last Sunday.
OSU does have some scoring threats to watch out for, including Bruce Thornton, who is averaging 17.4 points per game.
The Spartans are 31-20 against the Buckeyes since 1999. Ohio State won the lone meeting against MSU last season.
