HS TENNIS: Evans leads Montrose to first win of the season

Cara Evans remained undefeated at No. 1 singles this season and helped Montrose earn a 4-1 win over Riverside in a Lackawanna League girls tennis match Friday.

Erin Tillotson and Harleigh Smith also won their singles matches in straight sets for the Lady Meteors.

At Abington Heights, Susan Arp, Sona Hanumali and Amishi Amit swept the singles matches for the unbeaten Lady Comets in a 5-0 win over Holy Cross.

Montrose 4, Riverside 1

Singles: Cara Evans (MON) over Anavi Nieves, 6-0, 6-0 ; Erin Tillotson (MON) over Sarah Mccullon, 6-4 , 6-2; Harleigh Smith (MON) over Katherine Reynolds, 6-1 , 6-3.

Doubles: Aubrey Sodon-Anna Tillotson (MON) over JessDaly Torres-Sadonia Fanning, 6-4, 6-3; Kiara Castillo-Kaysha Vasquez (RIV) over Lydia Sinkovich-Ziva Sodon, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Records: MON 1-4, RIV 0-4.

Singles: Susan Arp (AH) over Hannah Pisarcik, 6-1, 6-0; Sona Hanumali (AH) over Sadie Pappas, 6-0, 6-0; Amishi Amit (AH) over Molly Urban, 6-1, 6-1.

Doubles: Mary Booth-Sammy Rosenstein (AH) over Claire Polishan-Natalia Mattrone, 6-0, 6-1; Bernie Mullin-Jenna Follarsbee (AH) over Anna Polishan-Madyson Mace, 6-0, 6-0.
