There was no power as of noon Friday at the Timuquana Country Club, thanks to Hurricane Helene’s brush with the First Coast the night before.
But activity on the golf course was full speed ahead to make ready for the Constellation Furyk & Friends PGA Tour Champions tournament next week.

Tournament and course officials reported around 10 trees were felled at the 101-year-old course on the banks of the St. Johns River, with scattered debris such as limbs and leaves around the course.
One set of fan bleachers was slightly damaged. A few temporary signs were laying on the ground near the first tee and the 18th green.
But repair and cleanup efforts that didn’t depend on electrical power were underway and tournament director Adam Renfroe said he anticipates no effect on the schedule, which begins with a pro-am on Monday, additional pro-ams on Wednesday and Thursday and the 54-holes of competitive rounds Oct. 4-6.
“Everyone’s going great,” he said from the dark and humid tournament headquarters inside the powerless clubhouse. “We’ll be ready.”
Furyk & Friends has in the past dealt with tropical weather
The tournament has experience in cleaning up after tropical weather. Hurricane Ian brushed past the First Coast in 2022, with minimal damage to the course or the temporary structures such as hospitality tents. The tournament schedule was not affected.
The first round of the inaugural Furyk & Friends in 2021 was suspended due to a violent thunderstorm, but play was completed and the rest of the week went off without a hitch.

Daily, weekly and public hospitality tickets can be purchased by visiting constellationfurykandfriends.com. The pro-am rounds are open only to participants and the public can begin coming to the course on Oct. 4.
Brett Quigley is the defending champion. Also scheduled to play are tournament host Jim Furyk, four-time major champion and Schwab Cup points leader Ernie Els, 2022 winner Steve Stricker, David Duval and Fred Funk of Jacksonville, Vijay Singh of Ponte Vedra Beach and Davis Love III of St. Simons Island.
