Hyundai recalls over 225,000 cars for faulty rearview camera: See impacted models

Date:

Hyundai is recalling more than 225,000 vehicles over concerns of a rearview camera failing.

Six different vehicles from the Santa Fe and Elantra model lines are covered under the recall submitted by the carmaker on Nov. 21 and posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Wednesday.

“An inoperative rearview camera will reduce rearward visibility while driving in reverse, increasing the risk of injury to bystanders,” the recall notice from the NHTSA states.

Owners of the recalled cars can take the covered cars to a dealer to have the cameras replaced. The company will notify owners by mail that their cars are affected by the recall.

Hyundai recall details

The NHTSA said the following cars may have the faulty rearview camera:

  • 2021-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe

  • 2021-2022 Hyundai Elantra

  • 2022-2022 Hyundai Elantra N

  • 2021-2022 Hyundai Elantra HEV

  • 2021-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe HEV

  • 2022-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe PHV

The cameras in the recalled vehicles may have manufactured with an insufficient number of solder joints on the printed circuit board, a defect that may worsen over time.
