The Indian women’s cricket team will host West Indies for a three-match T20 2024 series at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai starting Sunday.
All matches in the India-W vs West Indies-W T20 cricket series will be played at the same venue and will start from 7:00 PM IST. Live streaming and live telecast of the IND-W vs WI-W matches will be available in India.
The series against the West Indies marks the final T20 assignment for the Indian women this year. The year began with a 2-1 series loss to Australia in Navi Mumbai, followed by a 5-0 sweep over hosts Bangladesh.
In July, India and South Africa split the honours with a win each in a rain-affected three-match series in Chennai. Later that month, India lost their Women’s Asia Cup crown to Sri Lanka.
A disappointing T20 World Cup campaign followed in October, where India failed to advance beyond the group stage.
Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to captain the Indian cricket team with experienced campaigners Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Renuka Thakur and Deepti Sharma also in the squad. Opener Shafali Verma has been dropped.
Batter Nandini Kashyap and pacer Raghvi Bist have earned their maiden call-ups in India’s women’s T20I side for the West Indies series.
West Indies will be led by Hayley Matthews with veteran all-rounder Deandra Dottin also in the team.
Ranked sixth in T20Is, the visitors face a tough challenge against world No. 3 India. India lead the head-to-head record against the Windies women with 13 wins in 21 encounters. The 2016 T20 World Cup champions West Indies have won eight.
