India’s 2025 cricket calendar: From tours to England and Australia, high-stakes matches await Rohit Sharma & Co

Date:

The year 2024 proved to be a rollercoaster for the Indian men’s cricket team, with memorable highs and disappointing lows. While India triumphed in the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, the team struggled in subsequent series, including an ODI loss to Sri Lanka and a shocking home Test series defeat against New Zealand. To cap off the year, India suffered a crushing 184-run loss to Australia in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, putting their World Test Championship (WTC) hopes in jeopardy.

In Tests, India ended 2024 with a mixed record of eight wins, six losses, and one draw from 15 matches. In ODIs, India managed just one series but fell short against Sri Lanka in a three-match encounter.

The team will aim for redemption in 2025, a packed year that includes marquee tournaments such as the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai, a five-Test series against England, and the Asia Cup. India will begin the year with the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 3. A win is essential to stay in the running for the WTC final.
