Inheritance & savings: Planning challenges for LGBTQ+ individuals

On a recent Living Not So Fabulously, hosts David & John Auten-Schneider interviewed UBS Wealth Management Chief Economist Paul Donovan about how some in the LGBTQ+ community may face unique financial challenges.

“When I talk to clients who are part of the queer community, the instinctive response is, ‘but we’re just like everybody else,'” Donovan reflected. “But the reality is that we are not.”

From inheritance rights in countries that don’t recognize same-sex marriages to needing more liquidity in case one is fired for being gay, LGBTQ+ people have to consider unique wealth management priorities that can vary from state to state and country to country.
