Oliver Glasner’s side will be desperate to pick a result to begin to move away from the relegation zone. The world champions are also dealing with another injury crisis ahead of Saturday’s match.
There is every chance that Manchester City may enter tomorrow’s match with seven first-team players unavailable. Rodri, Oscar Bobb, John Stones and Mateo Kovacic are all out of tomorrow’s match. Pep Guardiola informed the media earlier today that Phil Foden and Nathan Ake are also out of the Crystal Palace match. He also told the media that Manuel Akanji will have to pass a fitness test to feature at Selhurst Park. Just when Manchester City looked to be through their injury crisis they are now facing a fresh one.
Pep Guardiola was asked about the condition of Phil Foden during his pre-game press conference today. Foden missed City’s win over Nottingham Forest due to bronchitis. The City manager said Foden isn’t ready to play tomorrow. He added that Ake is out and Akanji is also in doubt. Guardiola had this to say when asked about the trio’s condition: “He’s not ready. Nathan is out; Manu we’ll see.”
Pep Guardiola also told the media earlier today that Manchester City may take a cautious approach with Kevin De Bruyne’s fitness. De Bruyne has only just returned to the starting lineup after an extended injury layoff. Speaking about De Bruyne’s condition Guardiola said: “We don’t have many players so we’ll see. It took a long time to come back. With a game every three days, we’ll see how he reacts to this amount of games.”
