Inter confirm Nicolò Barella has successfully undergone an operation on his sinuses, which ruled him out of international duty with Italy.
The midfielder had played in the first three Serie A rounds of the season, scoring in the 4-0 win over Atalanta, but the surgery had been planned in advance for this break in play.
A statement released by the club confirms he underwent an endoscopic procedure this morning on his paranasal sinuses at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano and the surgery was completely successful.
He will rest for a few days before resuming training with the squad next week.
Barella ruled out of Nations League matches
This was organised in accordance with the Italy squad and CT Luciano Spalletti, so he was well aware that Barella would not be available for selection in the Nations League fixtures against France and Israel.
Both those games are played away from home, at the Stade de France on Friday September 6 and on neutral turf in Budapest on September 9.
