Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has provided a fitness update on Lautaro Martinez following a 4-0 humbling of Red Star Belgrade.
During his post-game interview, as reported by FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri boss addressed numerous subjects, including the Argentine’s late injury scare.
Lautaro Martinez scored off the bench for his first UEFA Champions League goal in 2024/25.
After an unexpectedly slow start to the season, the Inter Milan skipper is seemingly back at his best.
He inspired the reigning Scudetto holders to a crucial 3-2 away win against Udinese last Saturday.
Goals on either side of half-time helped Inter return to winning ways in Serie A after a derby fiasco against AC Milan.
It looks like it was only a matter of time before Martinez would hit another purple patch.
Last season’s Capocannoinere winner needed only seven minutes on the field against Red Star to get off the mark in the Champions League.
However, he was seen holding his thigh down the final stretch, sending shivers down Inzaghi’s spine.
Luckily for Inter supporters, it’s nothing serious, at least according to the boss.

“Yes, I saw in the final minutes that he touched his thigh,” Inzaghi said. “He told me that he took the classic ‘old lady,’ but there shouldn’t be any problems.”
Martinez has got the Inter faithful used to goals.
Now, it’s time for Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic to follow in their captain’s footsteps.
Both strikers made their seasonal breakthrough tonight. In their first start together, Taremi and Arnautovic didn’t cease to amaze.
“We forget that they were playing together for the first time, but they have convinced me in recent days,” Inzaghi praised his duo.
“They are strong, they played an excellent game like other players who have played less. Great news, let’s keep it up.
“There is a lot of satisfaction.”
Inzaghi also hailed the team’s effort, especially the high turnovers.
“I saw the team’s concentration, we all expected the victory. But we had to acquire it on the pitch with running and determination.
“We had to follow up on the match in Manchester, otherwise we would have nullified everything.
“It is a long path with difficulties.”
