Inter Milan denied Napoli and Atalanta any room to breathe at the top of the Serie A table with their win over Parma.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, hail the 3-1 scoreline and above all the convincing performance from the defending champions.
At the moment, Inter find themselves with some catching up to do at the top of the Serie A table.
That is partly the result of having to make up last weekend’s match against Fiorentina.
That game in hand casts a shadow over the top end of the table. For as long as Napoli and Atalanta in particular continue to win relentlessly, they threaten to escape at the top.
But at the same time, Inter’s own ruthless form means that if the teams at the top slip up even once, they will be caught.
Inter Keep Pressure On Napoli & Atalanta With Parma Win
Inter temporarily went level with Atalanta and within one point of Napoli yesterday.
Atalanta produced an instant response, beating AC Milan to go three points ahead of Inter.
Meanwhile, Napoli will feel that they have to beat Lazio tomorrow to regain their buffer at the top.
But the worry for those teams is that Inter will be able to keep staying within touching distance.
The Nerazzurri had a tough assignment against Parma yesterday. The newly-promoted team have beaten AC Milan and Lazio this season. They’ve also drawn with Fiorentina, Juventus, and Bologna.
But Inter did not make it look difficult.
The Nerazzurri were solid in defense. And at the other end, they created the chances they needed to cruise to a 3-1 win.
Therefore, the defending champions are really starting to set the standard again.
