Yann Bisseck believes a stroke of bad luck cost Inter Milan a valuable point in last night’s demoralizing 1-0 loss at Bayer Leverkusen.
During his post-match chat with Inter TV via FCInterNews, the 24-year-old lamented a lack of fortune in the club’s first UEFA Champions League defeat this season.
Simone Inzaghi continued with his usual squad rotations despite the magnitude of the task at the BayArena.
However, his tactical flexibility didn’t pay off this time, as Leverkusen snatched a last-moment winner.
Inter came into proceedings unscathed, boasting the competition’s best defensive record.
Had it not been for a late switch-off, they would’ve ended Matchday 6 as the only team yet to concede at Europe’s top table.
But Inter’s poor defensive reactions helped Nordi Mukiele beat Yann Sommer from point-blank.
Indeed, the Frenchman’s goal sneaked Leverkusen into the win column at the expense of Inter’s first loss in 14 games.
Yann Bisseck Laments Lack of Luck in Inter Milan Defeat at Bayer Leverkusen
“It’s football, we were unlucky in the end,” Bisseck said after the game.
“I think we played a good game, we had prepared it well and it’s disappointing for the goal conceded at the end, it’s never nice.
“We have great respect for Bayer Leverkusen. They are a team that plays very well.
“I have to give credit to the opponents, they manage possession well. We played our game, it’s disappointing for the result, but it’s football.”
Inter cannot afford to lose confidence after one loss.
Indeed, they must recover quickly ahead of next Monday’s season-defining Serie A road trip to the Stadio Olimpico.
They’ll face in-form Lazio in a high-stakes league duel.
“We will prepare for the match like all the others, we know we’re facing a strong team, but so are we,” Bisseck stated.
“They are in great form, but we will give our best.”
