Inter Milan & Italy Star Declares: ‘Clinching The Serie A Title Vs AC Milan In Derby Will Remain In History Forever’

Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella feels that the Nerazzurri clinching the Serie A title in the derby against AC Milan “will remain in history forever.”

The 27-year-old spoke to Inter’s social media channel, via FCInterNews. He gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s historic title victory last season.

Last season, Inter won the Serie A title by a margin of nearly twenty points in the table.

By the end of February, it looked to be a question of “when” rather than “if” Inter would clinch it.

But the exact circumstances of the season threw up quite the special possibility for the Nerazzurri.

Going into April, Inter needed just a few more points to make it mathematically certain they’d finish as champions.

The Nerazzurri’s closest rivals in the table were also their city rivals, Milan.

And Inter faced Milan at the San Siro in mid-April.

It was the usual fiery, dramatic derby. But Inter prevailed by a 2-1 scoreline in the end, while three players received red cards in the finale.

And by beating the Rossoneri, Inter clinched the Serie A title.

Neither of the two city rivals had ever clinched the title in a derby match before.

Barella: “Inter Clinching Serie A Title Vs AC Milan Will Remain In History Forever”

Midfielder Barella gave his thoughts on the best moments he’s had at Inter.

“There have been a lot of reasons for satisfaction,” the former Cagliari midfielder said. “But clinching the Scudetto in the derby will remain written in Inter’s history forever.”

“It’s something that’s a pleasure for us to look back on,” Barella said.

Meanwhile, Barella also gave his thoughts on his favourite moment at the San Siro.

“In the last few years the San Siro has been fantastic,” said the Italian international.

“But the moment that really gives me goosebumps was the Champions League semifinal.”

Inter faced Milan in a derby semifinal tie in the 2022-23 edition of the competition.

“The roar after we made it to the final was fantastic,” said Barella.
