Paris Saint-Germain could be facing a problem up front with Gonçalo Ramos out injured and Randal Kolo Muani’s name surfacing in transfer rumors. Adding to the challenge, manager Luis Enrique has often opted for a false No. 9 instead of relying on Kolo Muani.
CaughtOffside reported that Manchester United are showing strong interest in signing Kolo Muani, though he’s unlikely to be available during the January window.
According to TBR Football, intermediaries have contacted clubs, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United.
With the uncertain future of Kolo Muani, Calciomercato reported that PSG scouts have been in Italy to watch Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram in action during the early months of the season.
Amid the ongoing rumors, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson discussed the possibility of the Parisians pursuing Thuram. The French football expert noted that going for the Inter Milan standout would be a step back, considering that Kolo Muani is Didier Deschamps’s go-to player.
“In terms of other transfer rumors pinging around at the moment, the name of Marcus Thuram, PSG, has been bandied about a little bit,” Johnson said on the latest PSG Talking podcast.
“This is one that I think made sense when Thuram was potentially a free agent arriving before he went to Inter. Now, I find it a little harder to imagine, if I’m completely honest. I think you’ve only got to look at the situation, the French national team. Kolo Muani is favored over Thuram.
“For a reason, we saw Deschamps tried to integrate Thuram into his starting eleven over the summer of Euro 2024. It didn’t really work But Thuram doesn’t have that clinical prolific edge that you need to be the focal point of the attack, which means that he’s often shunted out wide.”
