Inter Milan Star To Undergo Medical Tests With Italy After Injury Scare

Date:

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni will undergo medical tests with the Italy national team medical staff after suffering a muscle problem.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews.

Bastoni is currently part of the Italy national team squad for the international break just begun.

The 25-year-old Inter defender is one of the players to have received a call-up from Azzurri coach Luciano Spalletti.

This is in spite of the fact that Bastoni has just had a bit of an injury scare.

There were a few fitness concerns after the 25-year-old came off during Inter’s last match before the break.

The Nerazzurri beat Atalanta 4-0 at the San Siro in their third Serie A match of the season.

Bastoni started in that match. However, he came off during the second half, with Carlos Augusto replacing him.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi explained that the substitution was due to Bastoni feeling a bit of muscular fatigue.

Alessandro Bastoni To Undergo Medical Tests With Italy

Bastoni is part of the Italy squad for the break despite the fitness concerns.

The Azzurri take on France and Israel in Nations League fixtures during the break.

However, due to the potential injury, it is not certain whether Bastoni will play any part in those fixtures.

Naturally, there is little desire to take risks with Bastoni’s fitness.

The Nerazzurri defender will go easy in training initially and look to rest and recover.

But soon, Mediaset reports, there will be medical tests for Bastoni with the Azzurri medical staff.

These could be decisive in determining whether there is a chance of the 25-year-old playing in either of Italy’s two Nations League matches during the break.

Otherwise, it is possible that Bastoni could return from the national team camp to rest ahead of Inter’s return to action after the break.
