Inzaghi ‘disappointed’ after Inter’s 4-4 draw vs. Juventus: ‘It had never happened’

Simone Inzaghi admits that ‘clearly there were errors’ but highlights that his teams had never created ‘eight or nine’ goal-scoring opportunities against Juventus.

It was the most exciting derby d’Italia ever on Sunday as Inter and Juventus left the San Siro turf with one point each after a 4-4 draw.

The Nerazzurri wasted a two-goal lead in the second half, seeing Kenan Yildiz score two goals as a substitute in the final 20 minutes.

“Clearly, there were errors and we all have to be more responsible,” Inzaghi said at a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia.

“I must analyse some recurring errors. We all had to do more; talking about single players is useless. As a coach, I must understand. We are influenced by the result now. In 11 games against Juventus, it had never happened to me to create eight or nine goal-scoring opportunities. There is disappointment, but we go ahead.

“Surely, neutral fans enjoyed this game; we didn’t do it much as we know what the derby d’Italia represents. I struggle to accept the draw, but I must do it. You can concede four shots against Juventus but not four goals. We also scored four goals but with 15 shots.”

The Nerazzurri coach told DAZN that Inter deserved to win against Juventus and could have scored seven or eight goals.

Inter’s next Serie A game is against Empoli on Wednesday, October 30.

The defending Serie A champions sit second in the Serie A table, four points below leaders Napoli.

Inter have already conceded 13 goals in nine Serie A matches this term, compared to just 22 last season.

On the other hand, they have the second most prolific attack in the league with 21 goals in nine games, just three fewer than Atalanta.
