“It would be the greatest victory is history of Test cricket if….”: Cheteshwar Pujara makes a big statement on India’s chances of a win in Adelaide Test

Date:

India were 128/5 in their second innings at the stumps on Day 2 and still trail Australia by 29 runs in the Adelaide Test. Rishabh Pant (28) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (15) will resume the team’s innings on Day 3. Australia are comfortably ahead and could win the pink-ball Test inside three days as the visitors don’t have a lot of good batters to come.

Cheteshwar Pujara feels that Pant and Reddy will first have to add a hundred partnership runs before thinking of giving a target to the Aussies.

“It would be the greatest victory in the history of Test cricket if India managed to beat Australia. Pant and Reddy will have to add at least 100 runs before thinking about anything else. You can’t challenge Australia with a small lead. Scoring 60-70 runs will not help, and the two will have to go big, and then you have R Ashwin, who knows how to bat.

“It is a tough mountain to climb, and it will not be easy by any means. Both Pant and Reddy will have to be careful against Mitchell Starc, and if they can handle him for one-half of the first session, he will not be that difficult to face. They will have to make sure to keep him away from wickets,” Cheteshwar Pujara said on Star Sports.
