Italy & Albania EURO 2024 Stars To Start In Midfield For Inter Milan In Serie A Clash Vs Monza

Date:

Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani will start in midfielder for Inter Milan in this evening’s Serie A match away to Monza.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have a bit of a balancing act in terms of naming his starting eleven this evening.

Of course, the priority is to take three points.

Inzaghi will know as well as anyone that he cannot underestimate Monza.

The Brianzoli got both a draw and a win against Inter two seasons ago. And even last campaign, the matches between the Lombard teams were harder than the scorelines may have suggested.

But Inzaghi also knows full well what’s on the horizon for Inter.

In just three days’ time, the Nerazzurri take on Manchester City in their Champions League group stage opener.

And then one week from today Inter face off with city rivals AC Milan in the first derby of the campaign.

Inzaghi is therefore ready to dip into his squad this evening.

The Inter coach has been given a deep squad in all areas of the pitch. And he is not going to overuse key players week in, week out.

Frattesi & Asllani To Start For Inter In Serie A Clash Vs Monza

One area where Inzaghi is ready to shake up his team selection is in midfield.

According to the Gazzetta, the one member of the trio who has started for Inter in their first three matches of the season who will keep his place is Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Despite being 35 years of age, the former Roma and Arsenal midfielder is an everpresent for Inter. And that will continue to be the case against Monza.

But in holding midfield, Hakan Calhanoglu will drop to the bench.

Inzaghi wants to give the Turkish international a rest ahead of the matches to come.

Therefore, Calhanoglu’s understudy Kristjan Asllani will get the nod from the first whistle.

And then on the right of the midfield, the Gazzetta reports, Davide Frattesi will start.

Frattesi has been in blazing form during the international break. And he will take the place of fellow Italian international Nicolo Barella in Inter’s starting eleven this evening as well.
