Indiana (7-2) will host Minnesota on Monday evening to open Big Ten play.

THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

1. Balanced scoring for the Hoosiers.  Indiana got production inside and out, as two guards and two big men went for double figures.  Malik Reneau had a team high 19 points.  Myles Rice added 17, Oumar Ballo 14, Trey Galloway 13 and Luke Goode 9 to lead a balanced effort.  While it could be more consistent, Indiana’s ability to get scoring production from the backcourt continues to be a positive year-over-year development.

2. Ballo controls the glass.  Indiana 7-footer Oumar Ballo was dominant on the glass from start to finish.  He snared a total of 18 rebounds in just 28 minutes, just three short of his career high.  It was an overall solid game for Ballo, who added 14 points, six assists and two blocks as he asserted his will physically.  With Ballo leading the way, IU had a 46-29 edge on the boards.

3. Interior defense is solid.  Indiana had some lapses guarding the perimeter, but inside the arc Miami wasn’t able to get anything going.  The RedHawks made just 9-of-33 from two (27%).  From three Miami got off 32 attempts and made plenty of open looks.  Makes from beyond the arc helped keep them in the game well into the second half.  But they made just 23.3% overall in the second half and scored just 21 points after the break, and IU was eventually able to pull away.
