Indiana (10-3) will host Rutgers on Thursday to resume Big Ten play.

THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

1. Indiana offense overcomes miserable perimeter shooting.  Despite making just 1-of-20 from three, the Hoosiers managed to win. And things didn’t go much better at the free throw line, where the Hoosiers made just 16-of-24.  Luke Goode made IU’s first three-point attempt of the game, and the Hoosiers missed 19 a row from there.  Goode and Mackenzie Mgbako, thought to be the two best shooters on the team, made just 1-of-14 from long range.  IU made 63% of their shots inside the arc and committed just eight turnovers to salvage the win.

2. High-scoring Winthrop offense held in check.  Winthrop came into the game averaging more than 86 points per contest, but IU held the Eagles to 37.5% shooting including just 6-of-23 from three.  The live stats indicate the Eagles scored .94 points per possession.  Winthrop made only 31.3% of their second half shots, including just 2-of-9 from three.  IU had seven blocks and six steals for the game.

3. Galloway, Reneau and Rice are efficient, Hatton steps up.  The starting trio of Trey Galloway, Mali Reneau and Myles Rice combined for 43 points on 17-of-28 shooting to help offset the poor perimeter performance.  Galloway had five assists and no turnovers.  Langdon Hatton was next man up with Oumar Ballo out, and he chipped in with seven points, a team high 11 rebounds, and added three blocks.  Hatton had a significant role (26 minutes) because Reneau was in foul trouble throughout the game.
