IU basketball recruiting notes on Mullins, Haralson and Reibe

Date:

Indiana has a massive recruiting weekend starting tomorrow, with 2025 priority targets Braylon Mullins, Trent Sisley and Eric Reibe all on the Bloomington campus.

And news is flowing with regard to multiple key targets in advance of those trips to IU.

As we reported last week, Mullins is continuing to evaluate his schedule and timeline, and Indiana could be his last visit.  The latest news from Adam Zagoria is Mullins will publish his final five schools and college decision date early next week — right after his IU visit.

The schools most likely to be on Mullins’ list are Indiana, UConn, Michigan, North Carolina and Kentucky.  That’s a fairly easy list to distill, because Mullins has or will have visited all of those schools except Kentucky.  He canceled visits to the rest of his top 10.  Kentucky is a bit of a wildcard.  His scheduled visit there is late October, and it remains to be seen whether his recruitment continues to that point.  That visit could get moved up if it happens.  Mullins has consistently said he wants to make a decision before his high school season.

Meanwhile, On3’s Jamie Shaw posted predictions for 5-star recruits this week, and he continues to predict in-state guard/wing Jalen Haralson will land at Indiana, although he hasn’t raised his confidence level (25%) with that pick.  Shaw has been making that prediction for months, and it holds more weight now that Haralson is canceling visits and accelerating his process, as we reported earlier this week.

Haralson had a visit scheduled for Purdue this weekend, but there is speculation that won’t happen.  He is firmly in decision mode, and IU, Michigan State and Notre Dame are the perceived favorites.

Zagoria also reported on X an Indiana assistant was back out to visit Reibe in person this week in advance of his trip to Bloomington.  IU assistant Kenya Hunter leads the efforts for the Maryland-based product.  The full IU staff visited Reibe earlier in the month. UConn and Kansas, who are the perceived top competition here, were also back in this week for Reibe.

Shaw reported earlier in the week he thinks UConn and Kansas are generating the most buzz right now with Reibe, who is the only 2025 big man left on IU’s board.  The Hoosiers will need to make a strong impression this weekend to stay in the race for the coveted 7-footer.

Indiana is the third of Sisley’s four scheduled visits.  He’s previously been to Notre Dame and Purdue, and he has Michigan State on the books for Oct. 12.  He’s basically in decision-making mode at this point.
