Javier Tebas backs Real Madrid megastar for Ballon d’Or: “No better advertisement for La Liga”

While Real Madrid’s season so far has not been anything special, the men in white are still unbeaten in La Liga and have lost just once all season.

The driving force behind their good results has been individual brilliance with Vinicius Jr. particularly taking charge.

The Brazilian phenom has been the team’s single most important player for a while now and his incredible run last season is only a testament to the same.

In fact, he is even the favourite to take home the Ballon d’Or on Monday and word has it that he even knows that he has won.

Tebas talks about Vinicius

Speaking at a media appearance (h/t MARCA), La Liga president Javier Tebas gave his two cents on the upcoming Ballon d’Or award ceremony and who was his favourite to win it.

“There is no better advertisement for La Liga than seeing Vinicius win the Ballon d’Or. I think he should win it. His last season was and I think he deserves it.”

Needless to say, Tebas’ primary focus was on the popularity Vinicius Jr. brings to La Liga and the impact of his winning the award on the league’s stocks.

For Real Madrid, however, it will be a big moment especially given how he will be the first player of the new generation of stars to win the special honour.

Vinicius once again starred for Real Madrid against Borussia Dortmund midweek, scoring a stunning hat-trick and enabling a 5-2 comeback win after being 2-0 down.

Now, all eyes are on El Clasico where the Brazilian once again holds the key to taking home all three points.

Barcelona’s high-line defence under Hansi Flick has become a major talking point ahead of the Clasico and it is clear that Los Blancos’ biggest chance lies in breaking behind the line.

Vinicius’ pace, needless to say, will be critical on that front and the Real Madrid megastar must thus look to keep his form up and go all out against the in-form Barcelona.
