Jets cornerback D.J. Reed did not practice on Friday and will be listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
Dealing with knee soreness, the 27-year-old is now in danger of missing Week 2 after New York began the season with a 32-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night in which the defense was not up to par.
For the most part, though, the Jets’ secondary played well with Reed totaling seven tackles — second most on the team — and holding San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy to 231 passing yards and no touchdowns.
It was the 49ers running game (even without Christian McCaffrey) as well as Gang Green’s failure to create much pressure up front that caused the most problems.
Facing quarterback Will Levis and a lesser Titans team on Sunday should give the Jets’ defense a chance to get right, but without Reed it could be a little tougher.
