Jobs report and revisions, consumer sentiment: What to Watch

The Bureau of Labor Statistics will release the January jobs report before the opening bell. Economists expect nonfarm payrolls to decline from the month prior to 175,000, with unemployment and hourly wages holding steady at 4.1% and 0.3%, respectively. Alongside the report, new revisions will provide any revisions to data for the last 12 months since March 2024.

Federal Reserve governor Michelle Bowman will deliver commentary Friday morning.

Fresh data about the health of the consumer is coming, with consumer sentiment expected to tick up to 71.8 from 71.1 from January.
