What a season it’s been for Michigan State basketball so far. The Spartans are 10-2 on the year with just one more non-conference game remaining and they’re ranked No. 18 in the country.
At the start of the year, there was a lot of doubt surrounding the team because it had lost most of its production from a season ago in Tyson Walker, Malik Hall, AJ Hoggard, and Mady Sissoko. It felt like there wasn’t enough proven returning production and the newcomers felt more like projects than they have been up to this point.
Michigan State has been much better than anticipated because of the rise of the sophomore class as well as newcomers like Frankie Fidler, Jase Richardson, and Szymon Zapala.
The program seems to be trending back in the right direction and the Spartans are fairly young. The outlook for the future is intriguing and it’s only getting better. In fact, Michigan State will be bringing in some help in the form of Cam Ward as well as elite two-way player Jordan Scott.
Scott has been turning up his level of play during his senior year at South Lakes High in Virginia and his two-way play has been proof that the future is bright.
Scott scored 25 points with 10 rebounds, six (!!) blocks, and four assists in a big win for his high school on Friday. This just goes to show he can come in and make an impact on the defensive end to get on the floor but he has the ability to score from anywhere on the offensive end.
Don’t be surprised if Scott is next year’s Jase Richardson who exceeds expectations right away.
