The former New Zealand skipper has been out of action since the Test series against Sri Lanka
Kane Williamson returned to competitive action for the first time in two months, scoring a 60 in the Plunket Shield for Northern Districts against Auckland in Hamilton on November 19 (Tuesday). He has been out of action all this while due to a groin injury.
He top-scored for his team and played 122 deliveries, including as many as seven hits to the fence. Coming in at three after a 55-run stand for the first wicket between Jeet Raval (22) and Henry Cooper, Williamson stood firm with wickets holding one end up. He was eventually trapped in front by Jordan Sussex in the first ball of the 57th over.
Williamson last played for New Zealand in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, where he registered scores of 55, 30, 7 and 46 in the four innings. He missed all three Tests in the historic series against India but has been named in the upcoming three-match Test series against England at home.
The first Test will get underway in November 28 in Christchurch. The next two games will be played in Wellington and Hamilton, respectively.
