Kelly Brook reveals plans for TV future after Celeb Race Across The World

Date:

WHETHER KELLY BROOK triumphs in tonight’s final or not, Celebrity Race Across The World has helped the radio DJ achieve one thing — getting back on the box.

But the former TV host isn’t bothered if it doesn’t lead anywhere.

Kelly told me: “I feel like I have already semi-retired. I am certainly not a bikini model any more and am not acting any more.

“I have been doing radio for the last five years and they say I have a face for radio these days. It’s not by choice — I think they retired me.”

On signing up for the BBC One reality show, Kelly said: “Race Across The World was a bit left-field.

“It wasn’t something I was pursuing to get back on TV, it was just an incredible experience.

“I have no interest in other reality TV shows and I have no ambition to be stuck in a jungle with a bunch of people I don’t like.”

Fans have loved watching the former model explore Latin America with her husband Jeremy Parisi.

In tonight’s finale, the four teams — Jeff Brazier and son Freddy, Ted Lasso star Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen, and Radio 2’s Scott Mills and his now-husband Sam — will race to the last checkpoint in Frutillar, Chile, having set off from Belem in Brazil.

Kelly, a former host of Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast, told me: “I became famous really young and once you are famous you can’t stop being famous.

“It was hard. The narrative was that I was on TV but wasn’t good at it. It was like I became famous for being stupid and not very good at my job.”

Last year she and Jeremy filmed a pilot for their own farming show, but while it is yet to be picked up by a channel, Kelly’s convinced it would make a great series.

She added: “We’d love to film our own show on Jeremy’s farm in Italy. He has so many colourful characters in his family.”

Celebrity Race Across The World is on tonight at 9pm on BBC One.

The new Jersey-set thriller will be based on the original series, which starred John Nettles and ran for nine series on BBC One from 1981 to 1991.

Bad boy is back

EMMERDALE bad boy Ross Barton is back –  six years after leaving the village.
