Kentucky basketball interested in an international guard prospect

Date:

A year ago, Kentucky basketball brought in Zvonimir Ivisic, a former Croation professional, as a college recruit. He became a fan favorite before transferring to Arkansas to follow John Calipari. Now, they could be looking internationally again, and are one of multiple teams looking at Israeli guard Or Ashkenazi.

On3’s Joe Tipton is reporting that Ashkenazi has received interest from the Wildcats, along with Ohio State, the Auburn Tigers, and others, should he choose to attend college in the United States.

Ashkenazi spent the last three years playing professionally in Israel. He’s 6’5″, and at 21 years old, still developing his game. Last season, he averaged 4.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game for Hapoel Eilat.

A firm decision hasn’t been made yet, so that will be the first hurdle. Getting cleared by the NCAA is another, as Wildcats fans found out during Ivisic’s tenure. This will be an interesting story for Big Blue Nation to follow.
