Kentucky ranked as the 41st-most talented team in college basketball

Date:

We are just over a month away from Big Blue Madness, which will kick off the Mark Pope era of Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball.

This offseason has been jam-packed with news around the program, but overall, it is a whole new staff and roster that will be representing UK this season.

Overall, this roster is going to look vastly different than we have become used to over the last 15 seasons, as the team is made up of veteran college basketball players, including a handful of fifth-year seniors.

The biggest question mark surrounding this team, though, still remains: How good can they be?

Well, according to the Bart Torvik analytics system, the Cats enter the season with the 41st-most talented team in the sport.

While the talent may not be up to par with what we’ve been accustomed to, Bart Torvik still thinks Kentucky will have a decent season. Per the analytics, the Cats are ranked 23rd overall, highlighted by an adjusted offense efficiency rating of 26th overall and an adjusted defense efficiency rating of 25th. The system also projects a final record of 20-11 for the Cats.

The record might not impress a lot of fans in the BBN, but it does seem like a fair assessment at the moment of the roster. With a huge matchup against Duke to start the season, luckily, we will get an opportunity to see how this team stacks up against one of the most talented rosters in the country.

Either way, it should be a fun season in the first year of the new era.
