Koby Brea ranked as the top 3-point shooter in college basketball

Date:

Koby Brea will be going into his fifth year of college basketball this season while playing his first for the Kentucky Wildcats. After spending the previous four seasons with the Dayton Flyers, Brea is now looking to make an instant impact in Lexington.

During Brea’s time at Dayton, he was known for his 3-point marksmanship. Last season with the Flyers, he averaged 6.1 3s per game and made, on average, 3.0 3s a game while shooting a blistering 49.8% from behind the arc, while scoring 11.1 points per game.

With all that in mind, Andy Katz, a college basketball analyst for the Big Ten Network and a college basketball correspondent for the NCAA, believes Brea is the No. 1 3-point shooter this upcoming season.

Earlier this offseason, Kentucky assistant coach Cody Fueger said he wants to see Kentucky attempt over 30 3s per game this upcoming year, in an interview with KSR.

“How coach Pope likes to build his program, his teams is give these guys a ton of confidence first and foremost. He wants them to play fast, free, and fearless,” said Fueger. “Offensively, we’re trying to get up 35 3s a game, and if you turn down an open shot, you’re coming to sit on the bench. That’s how he coaches. He wants to give these guys tons of freedom and wants them to play off their instincts.”

With Brea shooting six 3s a game this past year, he will have plenty of opportunities to shoot the ball, along with Kerr Kriisa, Otega Oweh, Jaxson Robinson, Andrew Carr, and others.

Brea headlining the list, should be a huge bright spot for the BBN as the Mark Pope era is inching closer and closer to tipping off. Having the top 3-point shooter in an offense that wants to take 30+ threes per game? What more can you want?
