Led by Emma Lindemoen, Sacred Heart golf wins 11th consecutive Region 6 girls title

Emma Lindemoen got her three-peat at Tuesday’s Region Six girls golf championships at Weissinger Hills Golf Course.

The Sacred Heart Academy senior eagled the second playoff hole with teammate Keira Yun to capture the Region Six title for the third consecutive year.

Lindemoen and Yun, a sophomore, both shot 1-under-par 71s. Collegiate’s Heidi Mitchell finished third with a 74, and Sacred Heart teammates Greer Wathen and Brooklynn Bohnert tied for fourth with 75s.

Lindemoen, who has committed to Amherst College, finished with three birdies and two bogeys. She finished seventh in last year’s state championships.

Sacred Heart captured its 11th straight team championship with a score of 4-over 292. Assumption (348) finished one shot ahead of South Oldham (349) for second place.

Sacred Heart, the defending state champion, and Assumption earned spots in the first round of the state tournament set for next Tuesday at Shelbyville Country Club. The final rounds of the state tournament are set for Oct. 11-12 at Bowling Green Country Club.

Assumption got 81s from Tatum Mullaney and Emary Thomas. Kemper Kleinholter (89) and P.J. Harris (97) rounded out the team score.

The top 10 individuals not on one of the top two teams also earned spots in the first round of the state tournament. Joining Mitchell will be South Oldham’s Avery Suter (78), North Oldham’s Ella Trent (79), Oldham County’s Aubrey Brown (80), Shelby County’s Bryn Casey (83), Collins’ Lucy Oles (83), Manual’s Ella Sizemore (84), North Oldham’s Lillian Muschinski (84), Collins’ Kyrie Dickenson (84) and Mercy’s Sophia DeFazio (85).
