Barcelona returned to winning ways on Sunday, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over Deportivo Alaves.
Robert Lewandowski was the star of the show, as he bagged a first-half hat-trick to clinch all three points for Barça.
Lewandowski widens the gap in Pichichi race
Lewandowski was already leading the race for the Pichichi trophy heading into his game, thanks to his seven goals this season.
But now, with a hat-trick against Alaves, the Pole has widened the gap at the top. His overall scoring tally now stands at a remarkable 10 goals for the season so far.
Second-placed Ayoze Perez is trailing considerably, having scored six goals in the league this season. Raphinha, Kylian Mbappe and Giovani Lo Celso are joint-third, with five goals each.
Lewandowski has more goals than Real Madrid quartet
To put things into perspective, Lewandowski has scored a total of nine non-penalty goals this season, thereby equaling the combined tally of the Real Madrid quartet of Mbappe, Vinicius, Rodrygo and Federico Valverde.
Indeed, these four Real Madrid players have scored a combined total of only nine non-penalty goals this season.
Although Mbappe alone has scored five goals for the season, three of them have come in the form of penalties. Vinicius, too, has scored four goals, but two of them have come in the form of penalties.
As for Lewandowski, the Pole is having a great time under Hansi Flick. His tally of 10 goals in nine matches is a significant improvement from just five goals in as many games last season.
