Lewisburg tennis wins early battles, tops Shikellamy

Sep. 26—SUNBURY — Dayssi Weis and Christina Zheng emerged victorious from tough singles battles Thursday, helping Lewisburg to a 5-0 sweep of Shikellamy in a Heartland Athletic Conference girls tennis crossover match.

At first singles, Weis won the opening set over the Braves’ Sabrina Doebler 6-2 before battling to a 6-4 win in the second set. The Green Dragons’ Zheng powered through a 6-3 first set win over Mckenzie Boyer, then followed it with a 6-1 second set.

Lewisburg (13-2) got a 6-0, 6-0 victory from Bree Jun and Morgan Strieby at first doubles. The Dragons’ second doubles team of Nora Driver and Ceci Cundando-James dropped only one game, while third singles player Ella Markunas surrendered just one game in each set.
