Liga F round-up: Caroline Graham Hansen stars as Barcelona ease past Atleti

Caroline Graham Hansen registered a goal and an assist as Barcelona continued their perfect start to the Liga F season with a successful outing against Atlético Madrid. Meanwhile, Real Madrid fought back from a goal down to take maximum points from their meeting with Levante Badalona.

Here, we will round up all the action that took place on matchday nine of the Liga F campaign.

Madrid CFF 2-1 Sevilla

After playing out a goalless first half, Sevilla found the breakthrough on the hour mark. The 25-year-old headed the ball in from Alicia Redondo’s deep cross. Malou Marcetto led the Madrid CFF response, driving a loose ball past Esther Sullastres to restore parity in the 74th minute.

Kamilla Melgård completed the turnaround just two minutes later when she curled the ball into the far corner. The result ended the hosts’ six-game winless run, while Sevilla have now lost their last two matches.

Levante Badalona 1-3 Real Madrid

Real Madrid were made to work for the three points in Saturday’s away clash with Levante Badalona. Ana González scored her third league goal of the season to give Badalona a 19th-minute lead. The hosts stood firm until the 76th minute when Naomie Feller headed in from Olga Carmona’s deep cross.

Feller then turned to provider, teeing up Alba Redondo to sweep past Maria Valenzuela. Redondo went on to grab her second and Real Madrid’s third to wrap up all three points.

Atlético Madrid 0-3 Barcelona

Barcelona maintained their 100 percent record in Liga F with an impressive performance against Atlético Madrid. Aitana Bonmatí swept the ball in from Graham Hansen’s squared pass to get the champions up and running. Graham Hansen then put her own name on the scoresheet in first half stoppage time. The Norway international saw her long-range strike evade Lola Gallardo with the aid of a wicked deflection.

Patri Guijarro added a third in the 51st minute to quash Atleti’s hopes of mounting a second half fightback. As a result, Atlético Madrid were left to reflect upon their first defeat of the Liga F season.

Eibar 0-0 Costa Adeje Tenerife

Eibar’s Mireia Masegur thought she had headed Eibar into a 26th-minute lead. However, the defender ultimately saw her celebrations cut short by the assistant’s flag. That moment proved to be the closest either side got to breaking the deadlock. The two teams had to be content with a goalless draw, leaving Eibar in 12th and Tenerife in seventh position.

Deportivo La Coruña 0-1 Real Sociedad

The game’s decisive goal arrived in the fourth minute when Raquel García diverted the ball into her own net. The 27-year-old attempted to deal with Claire Lavogez’s driven cross, but she could only knock it past the despairing Inês Pereira. La Real ultimately stood firm to return to winning ways after taking just one point from their previous two matches. As for the hosts, they fell to just their second home defeat of the Liga F season.

Athletic Club 3-0 Real Betis

Athletic Club produced a dominant display to take maximum points from their home meeting with Real Betis. Nahikari García gave Athletic the lead from the penalty spot after Nuria Ligero was penalised for a foul in the box.

Ane Elexpuru doubled Athletic’s advantage in the 48th minute, tapping the ball home following a neat piece of play from Nerea Nevado down the left flank. Just four minutes later, Sara Ortega put her name on the scoresheet when she cut inside onto her right foot before firing past Paula Vizoso to register her first goal of the season.

Espanyol 1-0 Granada

Espanyol ended a three-game winless run to edge out Granada on Sunday. The close-fought encounter was ultimately decided by a 53rd-minute own goal. Granada goalkeeper Laura Sanchez inadvertently punched the ball into her own net in an attempt to deal with an inswinging corner. Sanchez’s error proved enough for Espanyol to claim their second win of the season.
