Lincoln University (PA) Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Julius Hodge, announced the hiring of Mark – Anthony Pounds as its new Assistant Coach for the men’s basketball team this month, the team will also be retaining Assistant Coach Keyshawn McMahon who has been with the team since May 2020. It is an exciting step for the men’s basketball team who are just coming off a conference championship in the 2023-2024 campaign.

Pounds most recently served as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team at Barton College (2018-2024). Pounds spent six seasons as a member of the Bulldogs coaching staff, starting with the 2018-19 season. Pounds also spent time with North Carolina Central University and Carver Bible College as a member of their coaching staff. Pounds also served as an Assistant in Barton College’s Department of People and Support.

Pounds spent time as a player for Barton College as well having played two seasons (2007-2009) before finishing his career at Piedmont Baptist College. At PBC, Pounds averaged 16.0 points, 5.3 assists, four rebounds and two steals and ranked fifth in the nation in field goal percentage that year. Pounds also played prep basketball at

Pounds is a graduate of North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree. Pounds also served in the United States Navy Reserves for four years and has four children: Christian, Madison, Kennedy, and Morgan.
McMahon has been apart of the Lincoln University(PA) men’s basketball program as an assistant coach and video coordinator since the 2020-21 season, he will stay on as the assistant coach for the Lions after being named the Interim Head Coach towards of the end of the 2023-24 season.

McMahon graduated from Sterling College in 2019 with a Bachelors in Mass Communications, while at Sterling McMahon played for the Sterling men’s basketball team as well. He was ranked nationally in total assists and assists per game in both of his two seasons at Sterling. McMahon played for Lowery at Essex County College prior to Sterling College. While playing for Essex he helped lead Essex County to a Region 19 championship and NJCAA National Tournament berth.
With his time at Lincoln McMahon has coached, developed, and recruited five all conference selections, one CIAA Player of the Year selection, one HBCU All-American, as well as three professional players who compete overseas. He has also assisted in leading Lincoln University to a 55-39(.580) overall record and four winning seasons in four years as an assistant coach. McMahon looks to add onto the success that the men’s basketball program has garnered so far as they look for another conference title this upcoming season.
The Lincoln University men’s basketball team will be back in action later this year, the team is coming off a season where they won the conference title in the CIAA while finishing with a 17-14 record for the 2023-2024 season.
