Former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano is the new head coach of MLS side Inter Miami.

According to Cesar Luis Merdo on Twitter, the Argentinian will join his legendary compatriot Lionel Messi at the helm of the David Beckham-owned club on a ‘long-term contract’.

Mascherano had previously been head coach of Argentina’s under-20 side since 2021, as well as leading the Argentinian team at this year’s Olympics.

Manchester City have been dealt a major blow as part of their ongoing legal battles with the Premier League.

Premier League clubs have officially voted by the two-thirds majority needed to approve changes to Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules.

The rules themselves place a limit on how much companies associated with clubs can feed into the club itself, such as through sponsorship deals.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is NOT training with his Liverpool teammates ahead of the Premier League game against Southampton on Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, suffered a hamstring injury in the final game before the international break, against Aston Villa at Anfield.

It was speculated that the defender would be out for two weeks after the blow, meaning he would be in contention for the Southampton fixture this weekend.

While Liverpool made limited signings in the summer, plenty of the club’s young talents were sent out on loan.

And while the Reds’ youth teams have proved to be a great way to develop players, those earmarked for the future are often sent out to get senior experience before they join Liverpool’s first team.

However, for Welsh left-back Owen Beck, things have been less than straightforward during his stay at Blackburn Rovers this season.

Diogo Jota’s recent injury has been one of the most significant on a lengthy list that holds serious star power.

A rib injury sustained during the game has kept Jota sidelined since the visit of Chelsea to Anfield on 20th October, meaning Darwin Nuñez has replaced him at the heart of Liverpool’s attack.

And in today’s press conference, head coach Arne Slot explained that Jota is slowly returning to training but shouldn’t be expected back for the visit of Real Madrid to Anfield in midweek.

Jota announced on Twitter yesterday that he would be streaming live on Twitch with his Luna Galaxy Esports team. The response was hostile, to say the least.
