Liverpool Star Likely to Sign Extension for Specific Reason Amid PSG Rumors

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is up in the air, with his current contract set to expire next June. Recently, there have been rumors linking the star winger to Paris Saint-Germain, but there’s still a chance that the veteran stays at Anfield.

One of the latest updates on Salah comes from Fichajes, who report that PSG manager Luis Enrique is interested in the forward. The report states that the Parisians are determined to sign the winger to ensure he remains at the top level of European football.

Despite Salah inching closer toward free agency, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher believes the forward will ultimately remain at Anfield to cement his legacy by breaking as many records as he can.

“He’ll have an eye on Thierry Henry and Frank Lampard by the end of this season, I would imagine,” Carragher said on Sky Sports (h/t The Mirror). “I think stats like this are one of the biggest reasons why Mo Salah will sign a new contract at Liverpool.

“Of course they’ll be talking about money and length of contract, but I think these are the things that really get the juices flowing for Mo Salah. He breaks all the records at Liverpool, but getting as far as he can up those lists, I think that’s a big part of his focus as a player.”

In the past two years, the Ligue 1 side has focused on developing young talent, but they also need experienced veterans to guide them. A short-term deal with Salah could offer these young players a role model to learn from, especially someone who has won major trophies throughout his club career.
