Over the last few years, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been a name linked to Paris Saint-Germain. Although those rumors are back, one expert doesn’t see the veteran winger heading to another European club.
PSG are currently focusing on young talent, but they must balance this by bringing in experienced players who can guide and mentor them. This is likely why the Parisians are reportedly interested in Salah.
The 32-year-old is under contract until 2025, so if PSG were to make a move, the main issue would likely be his wages.
On top of that, bringing in Salah could shift Ousmane Dembélé into the No. 10 role he’s already played under Luis Enrique. That said, it’s possible Salah’s camp is using PSG’s interest as leverage to secure a better contract extension with Liverpool.
Despite the latest rumor linking Salah to PSG, Football Transfer’s Robin Bairner appeared on the latest PSG Talking podcast and noted that if Salah does leave the Reds, it won’t be to another Premier League club.
“If he leaves Liverpool, it’s a complicated one because he’s still at the top level,” Bairner said. “It depends on what he wants to do, what Liverpool want to do as well.
“Obviously, he’s still a very important player for Liverpool, and I’m sure Liverpool would love to keep him, but it really depends on his own ambitions, and does that mean moving to PSG? I think it’s going to be very difficult for him to move to another European club.
“I think the type of offer he’s bound to get from Saudi is going to be very difficult for him to turn down and I think if he’s going to do anything in terms of staying in Europe, I think it’s going to be stay with Liverpool.”
