Liverpool are now only two months away from the possibility of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold discussing lucrative free transfers with overseas clubs.

The high-profile trio are all out of contract at the end of this season in summer 2025 with the club having no success thus far in signing any of them to new terms.

Van Dijk, 33, remains the club captain and among the best performers in the squad having joined from Southampton for £75 million back in 2018.

Salah, meanwhile, joined in 2017 and is the club’s top earner. However, despite his consistency in front of goal, the club are yet to agree a fresh deal with the Egyptian king.

A new report in Sport, meanwhile, claims that Paris Saint-Germain are now rivalling Los Blancos for Trent

Viktor Gyokeres’ transfer plans have already been revealed with Ruben Amorim set to leave the club.

The Swedish striker is reportedly on Liverpool’s transfer radar with Arne Slot set to bolster his attacking options given the unreliability of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.

The former is currently out injured and is very injury prone, having missed a big chunk of games over the course of the last few seasons.

Meanwhile, the latter has never really found his finishing boots in a Liverpool shirt yet. The jury is still out on Nunez but it’s clear Slot cannot simply just rely on him alone.

How Jaros display could force Kelleher decision

Liverpool’s third-choice goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros made his full debut for the club in Wednesday’s 3-2 Carabao Cup victory over Brighton.

The 23-year-old had featured from the bench in the Reds’ 1-0 win over Crystal Place in the Premier League, but he received the nod to start as Liverpool continued their defence of the EFL Cup.

Jaros stepped up admirably and could not be blamed for either of Brighton’s goals and the Czech’s impressive performance leaves Arne Slot with a transfer conundrum.

Current first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker is out injured and isn’t expected to return until after the international break in November and as such Caoimhin Kelleher has become the starting ‘keeper for Slot’s side.

Salah given Saudi warning

Liverpool’s former superstar Sadio Mane now represents Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, but the Senegalese forward has found himself in hot water.

Mane made 269 appearances for Liverpool before he swapped Merseyside for Munich in 2022, but the winger only lasted a season in Germany before he was Saudi-bound.

The 32-year-old now lines up alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Aymeric Laporte and has started all but one game for Al-Nassr this season.

The one game Mane didn’t start was the side’s round of 16 King’s Cup tie with Al-Taawun, although he did come on as a substitute just after the 70-minute mark.

Al-Nassr lost the match 1-0 and Mane’s reaction on the full-time whistle has not left him in good standing with the team’s fanbase.

Liverpool are becoming increasingly concerned regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s contract situation.

The right-back’s current deal runs out next summer and time is running out to secure his future, especially as he will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club from January 1.

Currently there is little to no hints on whether Alexander-Arnold will stay at Anfield or opt for a new challenge, with Real Madrid the most likely destination.

Reportedly the Reds are considering their options and looking for the 26-year-old’s replacement should he decide to leave.

Liverpool have enjoyed an excellent start to life under Arne Slot, but this doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for improvement.

With the transfer window reopening in two months’ time, the Reds have already started looking at which areas of the squad they can improve.

Almost all of the transfer talk surrounding Liverpool is focused on potential replacements for the team’s out-of-contract trio or on midfield reinforcements, but Slot could be looking to improve in other positions too.

One player that has struggled to find form this season is Andrew Robertson, who has frequently had to share minutes at left-back with Kostas Tsimikas this campaign.

Now a potential target has emerged who could bolster Slot’s options at left-back and even replace Robertson long-term.

Liverpool’s midfield was a priority in the transfer market over the summer, however no reinforcements ever arrived.

Since the start of the season the emergence of Ryan Gravenberch has calmed supporters’ worries about the Reds’ midfield depth, but for many the midfield remains a priority.

Beyond Ryan Gravenberch, only Wataru Endo and Tyler Morton are natural in the holding midfield role and Slot doesn’t seem to fully trust either of his back-ups.

Liverpool’s number one target in the summer was Martin Zubimendi, who opted to remain at Real Sociedad over moving to Merseyside.
