Here’s all your latest Liverpool transfer news, including updates on Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.
Bayern in Alexander-Arnold race
While Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation remains unresolved, the race to sign the right-back phenomenon is seriously hotting up.
On January 1st 2025, should Liverpool not have a signed new contract on their desk, clubs from around the world will begin negotiations to secure the services of one of the biggest talents in Europe.
While Real Madrid’s interest in Trent has been reported extensively, it now seems that German side Bayern Munich could be interested in making a move.
This is according to Give Me Sport, who have been front and centre of Real Madrid’s interest in the 25-year-old.
Liverpool eye Rodrygo
Should Liverpool’s contract negotiations fall through, the club faces the prospect of three of its standout players leaving for free this year.
One of which is Mohamed Salah, the Reds’ leading goalscorer in the Premier League era.
In a bid to replace Salah, should negotiations for an extension prove to be unsuccessful, Liverpool have already looked at numerous different options and a new report suggests that Real Madrid’s Brazilian talent Rodrygo could be on his way to Merseyside.
Speaking to El Chiringuito de Jugones, via Fichajes, journalist Eduardo India said: “There is a team from northern Europe that is obsessed with a Real Madrid player to replace the absence of a player who is getting older and who is Egyptian and who will leave that team. I’m talking about Salah leaving Liverpool.
“The replacement is a player who is sensational every time he plays the ball and who is often undervalued. I’m talking about Rodrygo.”
Barcelona want Alisson
Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation has been a major talking point so far this season, with the future of the position seemingly secured and yet still unknown.
The signing of Georgia’s Euro 2024 hero Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia – who is set to join the squad next season – has brought into question the future between the sticks at Anfield. With Alisson Becker still playing at a world-class level and Caoimhin Kelleher being a more than acceptable backup, other teams are circling to secure their services.
And the main suitor for Liverpool’s Brazilian number 1 appeared to be Barcelona, with reports emerging that their manager, Hansi Flick, is eyeing Alisson as the long-term replacement to the now-injured Marc-Andre ter Stergen.
Newcastle struggling in Gordon talks
Anthony Gordon Newcastle
Liverpool talked about a deal with Newcastle United over Anthony Gordon in the summer, potentially with Joe Gomez heading the other way.
But things fell apart. Newcastle found a better solution to their issues when they offloaded two distinct players for large sums of money after scheduling medical for Gordon. In this manner, they would be able to retain the winger, a player they were never really eager to offload.
When Newcastle informed Gordon that he would not be sold back in June, they said they would reward his excellent form last season with a lucrative long-term deal, according to Telegraph Sport.
Sources close to the player, though, have said that the progress has been slow. As things stand, Gordon does not feel his true value is being reflected in the terms on offer.
