Luka Lopez wins 2024 USTA Kentucky award

LOUISVILLE — The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Kentucky and the Awards Committee announced Luka Lopez, of London, as the Most Improved Boy of 2024.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville.

A committee of six from all areas of the state, chaired by RC Scheinler, President of USTA Kentucky, selected the 2024 USTA Kentucky Award Winners.

Lopez is an exceptionally talented and driven young tennis player whose dedication to his sport has resulted in significant achievements. Currently ranked No. 84 nationally in the U12 category, he has made remarkable progress, starting the year at No. 270. This dramatic improvement reflects his consistent hard work and determination.

Regionally, Lopez stands at No. 10 in Southern, a testament to his competitive edge, and holds an impressive No. 2 ranking in Kentucky.

Notably, he is the youngest player in the state’s top 5, further emphasizing his skill and potential.

In recognition of his achievements and progress, Lopez has earned a full sponsorship deal with Tecnifibre, a leading brand in tennis equipment. This partnership highlights his growing presence in the tennis world.

Additionally, Lopez ranks No. 2 nationally in his college recruiting class, placing him in an excellent position for future opportunities in collegiate tennis.

Currently, Lopez has qualified to play in the National Indoors in New York at the end of November. His continued development on and off the court points to an exciting and promising career in the sport.
